President Tinubu Returns After a Two-Week Overseas Trip

Nigeria’s President, Bola Tinubu, has returned to Abuja after a two-week sojourn abroad.
In a Tuesday evening tweet, Mr. Bayo Onanuga, Tinubu’s Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, disclosed, “President Bola Tinubu, accompanied by his aides, will be back in Nigeria tomorrow from Europe.”
Departing Abuja on April 23, 2024, for The Netherlands, Tinubu undertook a three-day official visit in response to an invitation from Dutch Prime Minister, Mark Rutte.
During his time in The Netherlands, he took part in the Nigerian-Dutch Business and Investment Forum, engaging with leaders from both countries’ conglomerates and organizations.
Additionally, Tinubu held separate meetings with His Royal Majesty, King Willem-Alexander, and Queen Maxima of the Kingdom.
Following his engagements in The Netherlands, as earlier announced by his Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, Ajuri Ngelale, Tinubu proceeded to Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, to participate in a World Economic Forum Special Meeting on Global Collaboration, Growth, and Energy for Development scheduled for April 28–29.
This marked his second visit to the Gulf state in five months.
Post-summit, the President extended his stay abroad, reportedly traveling to London for a private visit, as confirmed by sources within the Presidency. His return was anticipated last weekend.
Tinubu’s previous private visit to London occurred between June 24–28, 2023, during which he met his predecessor, Muhammadu Buhari, following his attendance at the Paris Summit for the New Global Financial Pact.
His return on Wednesday concludes his 20th foreign trip since assuming office last May, amassing a total of 96 days abroad.
To date, his travels have taken him to Paris, France (thrice); London, United Kingdom (twice); Bissau, Guinea-Bissau (twice); Nairobi, Kenya; Porto-Novo, Benin Republic; New Delhi, India; Abu Dhabi and Dubai in the United Arab Emirates; New York, United States of America; Riyadh, Saudi Arabia (twice); Berlin, Germany; Addis Ababa, Ethiopia; Dakar, Senegal; Doha, Qatar; and The Hague, The Netherlands.
