Harry and Meghan Conclude Nigerian Tour with Emphasis on Sports

Prince Harry and Meghan Markle concluded their three-day visit to Nigeria on Sunday, ending in Lagos as part of their tour to promote the Invictus Games for wounded military veterans.
In Lagos, the couple enthusiastically participated in sporting activities and dance, highlighting the theme of unity through sports.
Their journey began on Friday when the Duke and Duchess of Sussex arrived in Abuja, the Federal Capital Territory. During their visit, they attended a school event focusing on mental health, and Prince Harry met with wounded soldiers.
On the third day of their visit, the royal couple engaged in a basketball event with the Giants of Africa Foundation in Lagos, an organization dedicated to youth development through sports engagement. Prince Harry demonstrated basketball dribbling skills with children at the foundation’s exhibition event, led by basketball veteran Masai Ujiri.
Prince Harry emphasized the transformative power of sports, stating, “The power of sports can change lives, it brings people together and creates community, and there are no barriers which is the most important thing.”
Having served as a former army captain flying helicopters in Afghanistan, Prince Harry founded the Invictus Games a decade ago to facilitate the participation of wounded veterans in sporting events to aid in their recovery.
Subsequently, the couple met with Lagos State Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu and were scheduled to participate in a fundraiser event in Lagos.
Governor Sanwo-Olu expressed pleasure in welcoming the Duke and Duchess of Sussex, sharing the vibrant culture of Lagos with them during their visit.
