“If I’ve managed it, so can you,” Adekunle Gold reassures fellow sickle cell survivors.

Renowned Nigerian musician, Adekunle Kosoko, also known as Adekunle Gold, has shared his journey battling sickle cell anemia.

During a recent performance, the singer revealed that he was diagnosed with sickle cell disease since birth and has lived with the condition throughout his life.

Despite the numerous challenges it poses, he expressed gratitude for his capacity to manage the illness, enabling him to pursue his musical passion and perform on stages worldwide without succumbing to its adverse effects.

He urged individuals facing similar health challenges to maintain resilience and determination in chasing their life aspirations.

Adekunle Gold affirmed, “I want to reassure you that you can overcome it. If I’ve managed to do so, you can too. I grew up with sickle cell. It’s been a constant battle. But I’m thankful for being able to cope with it. I’m out there, performing at shows, never falling ill. I’m grateful. This message goes out to everyone enduring similar crises: you have the strength to endure. It shouldn’t deter you. Look at me, I’m a superstar right now.”

However, the singer dedicated his rendition of the song “5 Star” to fellow sickle cell survivors.
