Davido pledges to donate ₦300 million to orphanages across Nigeria.
Following his generous donation in 2023, Nigerian artist Davido has once again reaffirmed his commitment to philanthropy by pledging to contribute funds in 2024. Known for his mantra “we rise by lifting others,” Davido has pledged to donate ₦300 million to orphanages in Nigeria through his foundation. Announcing the commitment on Tuesday, February 20, 2024, via his official Instagram account, the Grammy-nominated singer stated, “My foundation and I pledge the sum of 300 million naira to orphanages across Nigeria as our annual contribution to the nation. Details of disbursement will be provided tomorrow.”
Established in 2022 with support from other charitable organizations, the Davido Adeleke Foundation aims to assist vulnerable children in Nigeria. In July 2023, Davido proudly disclosed that the foundation had contributed over ₦200 million to orphanages nationwide, benefiting 13,818 children. He also affirmed his commitment to ongoing donations in 2024, emphasizing the foundation’s mission to positively impact the lives of Nigerians.
This philanthropic tradition dates back to 2021 when Davido celebrated his birthday by donating over ₦200 million after sharing his bank account details on his Twitter (now X) page. Following the overwhelming response, Davido announced his intention to donate the entire sum to orphanages across Nigeria, stating, “I am thrilled to announce that all funds received totaling ₦200,000,000 will be donated to orphanages across Nigeria as well as the Paroche Foundation.”
Remaining true to his word, Davido disbursed the funds after adding an additional ₦50 million. His unwavering commitment to philanthropy reflects his belief in giving back to society and uplifting those in need, embodying the spirit of compassion and generosity.
