Olubadan Urges Newly Installed Chiefs to Foster Unity and Progress in Ibadanland
The Olubadan of Ibadanland, Oba Owolabi Olakulehin, has called on newly installed chiefs in the state to leverage their positions as traditional titleholders to promote unity, peace, and progress in Ibadanland. The monarch, speaking through the Ekerin Balogun of Ibadanland, High Chief Akeem Adewoyin, made the call during a ceremony at the Olubadan’s palace in Oke Aremo, Ibadan, on Saturday.
In a statement issued by his Chief Press Secretary, Gbenga Ayoade, Oba Olakulehin conferred honorary chieftaincy titles on several eminent Ibadan personalities and their spouses. Those honored included Sulaiman Ajewole, who was named Aare and Yeye Atunluse of Ibadanland, as well as Abisoye Ayoyimika and Olusola Fagade, who were conferred with Aare and Yeye Asojuoba of Ibadanland, respectively.
The Olubadan acknowledged the significant contributions these individuals have made to the unity, progress, and development of Ibadanland. He emphasized that their recognition was in gratitude for their ongoing efforts in advancing the interests of the ancient city.
“The conferment of these titles is a recognition of your contributions to the progress of Ibadanland,” the Olubadan stated. “I believe this honor will inspire you to do even more. As traditional titleholders, I urge you to use your influence to foster unity, peace, and progress in Ibadanland, representing the Olubadan in all your endeavors.”
Among those present at the ceremony were His Royal Majesties, including the former Governor of Oyo State and Otun Olubadan of Ibadanland, Oba Rashidi Ladoja; the Balogun of Ibadanland, Oba Tajudeen Ajibola; the Osi Olubadan of Ibadanland, Oba Eddy Oyewole; the Osi Balogun of Ibadanland, Oba Olubunmi Dada; the Ashipa Olubadan of Ibadanland, Oba Abiodun Kola-Daisi; and the Ekarun Olubadan of Ibadanland, Oba Adebayo Akande.
Also attending the event was the Minister of Arts, Culture, Tourism, and the Creative Arts, Hannatu Musa Musawa.
