Federal High Court Judges’ Yuletide Vacation to Commence December 16, 2024

The Chief Judge of the Federal High Court of Nigeria, Justice John Tsoho, has announced that the court’s 2024 yuletide vacation will begin on December 16, 2024, and end on January 6, 2025. Court proceedings will resume on Tuesday, January 7, 2025, across all judicial divisions.
This break follows the provisions of Order 46, Rule 4 (C) of the Federal High Court (Civil Procedure) Rules, 2019 (as amended).
During the vacation period, only urgent matters will be entertained, specifically those related to the enforcement of fundamental rights, the arrest or release of vessels, and issues of national importance.
The vacation will see limited court activity, with only the core judicial divisions—Abuja, Lagos, and Port Harcourt—remaining operational. The judges assigned to handle matters during the break are as follows:
– Abuja Division: Justice Emeka Nwite and Justice M.S. Liman
– Lagos Division: Justice Akintayo Aluko and Justice Isaac Dipeolu
– Port Harcourt Division: Justice P.M. Ayua and Justice A.T.
These vacation judges will oversee urgent cases throughout the period. The full court schedule will resume after the break on January 7, 2025.
