Nollywood actor Rotimi Salami has opened up about the death of his colleague and close friend Allwell Ademola, saying he believes her passing was simply destined to happen at that time.
Speaking during an interview on a television programme, Salami reflected on the circumstances surrounding the actress’s death and explained that events like cardiac arrest can occur unexpectedly, regardless of how careful someone is about their health. He stated that although the loss was painful, he believes it was ultimately part of life’s natural course. According to him, “it was just her time,” noting that such medical emergencies can affect anyone.
Salami also revealed that the late actress had been conscious of her health and took good care of herself despite living with asthma. He explained that she did not take her health lightly, which made the sudden nature of her death even more shocking to those close to her.
Ademola passed away on December 27, 2025, in Lagos after reportedly suffering a heart attack at her residence before she was rushed to the hospital, where she was confirmed dead. She was 49 years old at the time of her death, contrary to earlier reports that claimed she was younger.
The late actress was widely respected in the Nigerian film industry for her contributions as an actress, producer, and filmmaker. Over the years, she appeared in numerous Nollywood productions and was admired by colleagues and fans for her dedication to the craft.
Following her passing, tributes poured in from colleagues and fans across the entertainment industry, with many remembering her talent, kindness, and influence. Friends, family members, and fellow actors gathered earlier this year to celebrate her life during a service of songs and burial ceremony held in her honour.
Salami’s remarks highlight the deep sense of loss felt within the Nollywood community while also acknowledging the unpredictability of life. Despite the pain of losing a colleague and friend, he urged people to cherish every moment with their loved ones and accept that some events are beyond human control.
