Afrobeats superstar Tiwa Savage is taking a bold step beyond the stage, launching a music foundation designed to nurture and empower the next generation of African creatives. The award-winning singer recently unveiled the Tiwa Savage Music Foundation, a non-profit initiative aimed at discovering, training, and supporting emerging music talents across the continent.
The initiative reflects Savage’s desire to give back to the industry that helped shape her global career. Known for her powerful vocals and influence in the Afrobeats movement, the singer said the foundation was created to bridge the gap between raw talent and the infrastructure needed for success. According to her, Africa is overflowing with gifted artists, producers, and songwriters, but many lack access to education, industry networks, and professional development opportunities that can take their craft to the global stage.
The foundation will focus on several key areas within the music ecosystem, including music production, sound engineering, film scoring, publishing, and even music therapy. By expanding beyond just singing and songwriting, Savage hopes to encourage young creatives to explore the many career paths that exist behind the scenes in the music industry.
One of the foundation’s first major initiatives is the “Berklee in Nigeria: Tiwa Savage Intensive Music Program,” a four-day training event scheduled to take place in Lagos from April 23 to April 26, 2026. The program is designed to train around 100 African creatives and will feature mentorship, workshops, and hands-on learning from industry professionals in partnership with the globally renowned Berklee College of Music.
The launch event in Lagos drew notable figures from Nigeria’s entertainment and political circles, highlighting the importance of strengthening the creative economy. Savage emphasized that the foundation’s mission goes beyond just talent discovery,it aims to build a sustainable structure for African music by investing in education, collaboration, and access to global opportunities.
After years of building an international brand and helping push Afrobeats to the world, Savage says the next phase of her journey is about building from within Africa. Through the Tiwa Savage Music Foundation, she hopes to create a pipeline that connects emerging African talent with the tools, knowledge, and networks needed to thrive on a global scale.
