At a service of songs and artistes’ night held in Lagos, the singer’s brother-in-law, Mr. Femi Eretan, insisted the family handled the burial arrangements independently, aiming to give Omije Ojumi the dignified farewell she deserved. “We never asked for donations or appealed for public support,” he said, stressing that rumours of fundraising are misleading and false.

Sources close to the family revealed that initial burial plans organised by colleagues in the gospel music community were cancelled due to internal disagreements, not financial constraints.
