Nigerian media personality and entrepreneur, Toke Makinwa, has taken social media by storm with the announcement that she is expecting her first child a revelation she calls “the biggest project of my life” and “the highest calling ever.”
On August 13, 2025, the On Becoming author shared a heartfelt Instagram video filmed in a lush garden, tenderly cradling her baby bump. In her caption, Makinwa expressed deep gratitude, crediting God for answering her prayers at the perfect time.
“You have completely changed my life,” she wrote. “You opened this door that nobody can shut. All that time I was convinced you had forgotten me… but now I see it. You worked on my heart posture to get me ready for the biggest blessing and the highest calling.”
Makinwa whose career has spanned roles as a radio host, TV presenter, brand influencer, and businesswoman said motherhood is set to become her most treasured role yet. “I’ve worn so many hats over the years, but this one trumps it all. You get to see me as a mother; I get to raise my own,” she added, addressing her unborn child affectionately as “My bug.”
Fans, fellow celebrities, and friends flooded her comment section with congratulations. “Jesus 😍😍😍,” one fan exclaimed, while others hailed the news as a testimony of God’s perfect timing. Messages poured in from across the entertainment industry, with many praising Makinwa’s resilience and faith.
The announcement comes just months after the 40-year-old opened up on her podcast about embracing her singlehood and child-free life without regret. In March 2025, she candidly reflected, “Regret is so exhausting; get comfortable with your truth. The hardest thing I could say to myself is, ‘Geez, I am 40, single, and childless.’ I said it, and I did not die!”
She went on to explain that, in hindsight, past relationships may not have led to lasting happiness. “If I had gotten married again, I would’ve been divorced again because the lessons just never stop,” she admitted. “I am 40, I am a boss, I have built an empire, I am one of the most resounding voices in Africa, and I am not waking up miserable.”
For many fans, Makinwa’s pregnancy marks not just a personal milestone but a powerful testament to self-discovery, patience, and faith.
