Ebonyi Governor Nwifuru Announces ₦150,000 Christmas Bonus for Civil Servants
Ebonyi State Governor, Francis Nwifuru, has announced a Christmas bonus of ₦150,000 for each civil servant in the state. The Chief Press Secretary to the Governor, Monday Uzor, shared the announcement via a Facebook post on Thursday night, stating that the bonus will be paid to state workers before 1 pm on Tuesday, December 17, 2024.
In addition to the Christmas bonus, Governor Nwifuru had previously approved the payment of a new minimum wage for civil servants in the state. On October 27, 2024, the Governor announced that the minimum wage would be ₦75,000, with the implementation already underway. This decision followed a comprehensive review of the current economic situation, particularly its impact on workers. Under the new wage structure, civil servants on grade level 2 will receive the full ₦75,000, while those on grade level 3 and above will receive an additional ₦40,000 increment.
Governor Nwifuru’s announcements reflect his commitment to improving the welfare of workers in Ebonyi State amidst ongoing economic challenges.
