APC Hails NCAA Approval for Ekiti Airport Operations, Lauds Governor Oyebanji for Fulfilling Promise

The All Progressives Congress (APC) in Ekiti State has expressed excitement over the approval granted by the Nigeria Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA) for unscheduled flight operations at the Ekiti Agro-Allied International Cargo Airport in Ado Ekiti. The party described the approval as a timely development, especially as the state prepares for the festive season.

In a statement issued on Friday, Segun Dipe, the APC Publicity Secretary in Ekiti, praised Governor Biodun Oyebanji for fulfilling his promise to the state, calling him a “promise-keeper.” Dipe also emphasized the significance of the approval, viewing it as a “Christmas gift” for the people of Ekiti, with a bright future ahead for the state’s aviation sector.

The NCAA granted approval for non-scheduled flight operations under Visual Flight Rules (VFR) at the airport for a period of six months, from December 15, 2024, to June 15, 2025. Yinka Oyebode, the Special Adviser to the Governor on Media, announced the approval in a statement on Thursday, highlighting that it would allow private jets and chartered flights to land and take off between 6 am and 6 pm, paving the way for future commercial flight operations.

Dipe emphasized that, despite any previous criticisms of the airport project, the focus should now be on the achievements made. He commended Governor Oyebanji for his perseverance and determination, noting that the successful completion of the airport project was a monumental achievement for the state. He also underscored the importance of the project for Ekiti’s future, stating, “We dreamt big, and we have achieved big.”

The APC further expressed confidence that the development would bring great benefits to the people of Ekiti, describing it as a step towards greater progress for the state.
