1 min read

The Governor of Edo State, Monday Okpebholo, approves the launch of a free bus service for residents across the state, facilitated through the Edo City Transport Service (ECTS). The initiative is part of the Okpebholo administration’s ongoing efforts to improve transportation and enhance the welfare of the state’s citizens.

In a statement issued on Tuesday by the Governor’s Chief Press Secretary, Fred Itua, the free bus service will be available to residents of Benin City, as well as the three Senatorial Districts of the state. The service will cover both intra- and intercity routes, including major towns such as Ekpoma, Iruekpen, Irrua, Uromi, Agbede, Auchi, Okpella, and Fugar.

Governor Okpebholo emphasized that the free bus service is designed to alleviate transportation challenges for residents, allowing them to move freely within the Benin metropolis and between communities without the burden of additional transportation costs. The initiative reflects the governor’s commitment to promoting accessibility and improving the overall welfare of Edo people.

With this new development, the state aims to provide an affordable, reliable, and stress-free transportation option for all, further supporting the Governor’s vision for sustainable development in Edo State.
