NDDC Reaffirms Commitment to Supporting Nigeria Police in Enhancing Security in Niger Delta

Dr. Samuel Ogbuku, Managing Director of the Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC), reaffirmed the Commission’s commitment to supporting the Nigeria Police Force and other security agencies in the region to ensure their effective operation. This statement was made during a courtesy visit from Mr. Bala Mohammed, the newly redeployed Commissioner of Police for Rivers State, at the NDDC headquarters in Port Harcourt.

In a release issued by Seledi Thompson-Wakama, Director of Corporate Affairs at the NDDC, Ogbuku highlighted recent efforts, including the donation of operational vehicles and communication equipment to the Rivers State Police Command. He announced plans to award a contract for supplying solar lights to the nine police command headquarters across the region.

Ogbuku emphasized, “The Niger Delta Development Commission is dedicated to providing adequate support to the Nigeria Police and other security agencies to enhance their job performance.” He also expressed his intention to collaborate with other state commissioners of police and security agencies to bolster their operations.

The Rivers State Commissioner of Police commended the NDDC for its support and noted the importance of community policing in addressing crime. He stressed that collaboration with the NDDC would strengthen security and intelligence efforts in the state. Additionally, he encouraged the public to report any police misconduct to ensure accountability within the force.

Overall, the meeting underscored a mutual commitment to enhancing security measures and community safety in the Niger Delta region.
