Senate Urges Minister of Works to Address Crisis on Deteriorating Old Oyo-Ogbomosho Road Amid Traveler Hardships
The Senate has called upon the Minister of Works, Senator Dave Umahi, to address concerns about the deteriorating condition of the Old Oyo-Ogbomosho road. This action was taken on Wednesday after Senator Buhari Abdulfatai (APC-Oyo North) raised an urgent motion highlighting the road’s worsening state. The senator emphasized that this critical route, which connects the South to the North, has become a significant hardship for travelers.
Senator Buhari Abdulfatai highlighted the severe distress caused by the poor condition of the Old Oyo-Ogbomosho road, noting that travelers are often left stranded. In response, Senate President Godswill Akpabio has instructed the Committee on Works to provide a report to the plenary within three weeks.
Abdulfatai expressed frustration, stating, “For over 10 years, despite major repair initiatives by the Federal Government, the road remains in a deplorable state, leading to frequent accidents and daily traffic congestion caused by heavy vehicles.”
