Lagos State Announces Traffic Diversion for Eko Bridge Repairs Starting September 16, 2024

The Lagos State Government has announced a traffic diversion due to emergency repairs on the Eko Bridge, managed by the Federal Ministry of Works. The diversion will begin on Monday, September 16, 2024, and is expected to last for eight weeks.
In a statement released on Friday, Oluwaseun Osiyemi, the State Commissioner for Transportation, detailed that the repairs would be conducted in four phases. During these phases, the Eko bridge will be intermittently closed either fully or partially, depending on the progress of the repairs.
Motorists traveling to the island from Funsho Williams Avenue can use the service lane at Alaka to reach Costain and then access the Eko Bridge to continue their journey.
Alternatively, those heading to the island can travel via Costain to connect to the Eko Bridge, then proceed to Apongbon for their destinations. Another route available is connecting from Apongbon to Eko Bridge, then traveling to Costain to access Funsho Williams Avenue.
Motorists are advised to use alternative routes due to the Eko Bridge repairs. Those traveling from Costain can head towards Alaka or Funsho Williams Avenue, or alternatively, take Apapa Road from Costain to Oyingbo, then proceed to Adekunle and connect to the Third Mainland Bridge for their destinations.
For those heading to Surulere, it is recommended to travel via Costain to Breweries, then move towards Abebe Village and connect to Eric Moore/Bode Thomas to reach their destinations.
The Lagos State Traffic Management Authority will deploy officers to the affected areas and along alternative routes to help reduce travel delays and inconvenience.
