Kwara Police Commissioner Leads Condolence Visit for Slain Polytechnic Student; Investigation Transferred to FCID

On Tuesday, Commissioner of Police for Kwara State Command, CP Victor Olaiya, led a police delegation to offer condolences to the family of Quoyum Ishola, a student from Kwara State Polytechnic in Ilorin who was tragically killed last Wednesday. Representing the Inspector General of Police, IGP Kayode Egbetokun, Olaiya visited the bereaved family at their residence in Alagbon, Oke Andi area of Ilorin, the state capital.
In a statement released on Wednesday and signed by Ejire-Adeyemi Toun DSP, the Police Public Relations Officer for Kwara State Command, the Commissioner of Police conveyed his gratitude to the family of the late Quoyum Ishola for their cooperation during the ongoing investigation. The statement, issued on behalf of the state Commissioner of Police, also relayed the Inspector General of Police (IGP) Kayode Egbetokun’s assurance that justice will be served.
According to the statement, the IGP has directed the Federal Criminal Investigation Department (FCID) to take over the investigation. Additionally, all officers previously involved in the case have been transferred to ensure a thorough and impartial inquiry.
On behalf of the immediate family, Mr. Muselim Abdulyekeen, the father of the deceased, and Mrs. Ramat Abdulyekeen, the mother, expressed their heartfelt gratitude to the Inspector General of Police and the Kwara State Police Command. They conveyed their appreciation for the ongoing support and efforts in addressing the tragic loss of their son.
The Abdulyekeen family reiterated their hope that the ongoing investigation will result in justice for their late child. Alhaji Mohamed Kewugbemi, the family’s clergy, offered prayers and praised the police for their commitment to securing justice. Additionally, Alhaji Erolalujana (Olori-Ebi) expressed his gratitude for the police’s support during this challenging time.
The statement also noted that Engr. Abdul-Jimoh Mohammed, the Rector of Kwara State Polytechnic, joined the police team to express solidarity with the grieving family.
The statement from the Commissioner of Police, CP Victor Olaiya psc(+), assured the family that the Kwara State Command is dedicated to ensuring justice and transparency in the case.
It is important to recall that last Wednesday, during a stop-and-search operation in the Fate area of Ilorin, police officers from the state command allegedly shot and killed Quoyum Ishola, an ND 2 student of Electrical Electronics Engineering at Kwara State Polytechnic.
