‘After next album, I no do again’ – Davido Hints at Career Conclusion
2 min readRenowned Nigerian singer David Adeleke, better known as Davido, has dropped a hint that he may not release another album after his forthcoming one.
The artist behind hits like “Unavailable” has recently been making headlines due to his online feud with fellow musician Wizkid, also known as Ayodeji Balogun.
Davido expressed a sentiment suggesting that certain individuals are eager to see him exit the music scene and that he might oblige after his next album. In a post on his social media handle, he wrote, “Yall niggas want me out the game that bad? Oya after next album I no do again. So una fit get peace.”
The singer also remarked that since his entry into the industry, many of his peers have struggled to find peace of mind.
Recently, Davido unveiled the music video for “Kante,” featuring the exceptionally talented singer Fave, from his “Timeless” album. He declared that this release marks the culmination of the “Timeless” era, one of the standout tracks from his Grammy-nominated album released in March 2023.
The announcement has reverberated throughout the music community, eliciting surprise and disappointment from fans and industry insiders alike at Davido’s potential decision to step away from album production.
Despite this revelation, many have commended his significant contributions to the Nigerian music scene and remain hopeful for a potential change of heart in the future.
Davido is also the founder of Davido Music Worldwide (DMW), a music record label through which he aims to foster emerging talent and mentor the next generation of artists. DMW has already signed promising acts such as Dremo, Mayorkun, and Perruzzi.
