Victor Osimhen Nears PSG Switch with Record Salary Boost
Nigerian football sensation Victor Osimhen is on the brink of a monumental transfer to French powerhouse Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) from Napoli, with reports suggesting a staggering fee of €120 million. As per Italian publication Il Matino, Osimhen is also primed for a substantial salary hike.
Osimhen, who made the switch from Lille to Napoli in 2020, inked a fresh contract in December, securing a monthly wage of £1.29 million (€1.5 million), nearly doubling his previous earnings.
His prolific performances on the pitch have not gone unnoticed, with the Nigeria international garnering interest from top clubs across Europe. With an impressive tally of 31 goals in 39 appearances last season and 14 goals in 26 games this term, Osimhen has solidified his status as a coveted talent.
Negotiations between Napoli and PSG are reportedly in an advanced phase, hinting at Osimhen’s imminent move to the French capital. Il Matino asserts confidently that the deal is on the verge of completion, with Osimhen poised to pocket a hefty salary of €13 million (£11.1 million) upon signing a four-year contract with PSG.
PSG’s pursuit of Osimhen comes on the heels of their recent setback in the UEFA Champions League, with a 3-2 defeat to Barcelona in the quarter-final first-leg prompting swift action from the club’s hierarchy.
Despite interest from Premier League giants Arsenal and Chelsea, Osimhen appears destined for PSG, leaving the English clubs to explore alternative options in their quest for a top-tier striker. Names like RB Leipzig’s Benjamin Sesko, Brentford’s Ivan Toney, Osimhen’s compatriot at Bayer Leverkusen Victor Boniface, and Sporting CP’s Viktor Gyokeres are reportedly under consideration as potential targets to bolster their attacking ranks.
