BREAKING : Kano State Government Files Charges Against Abdullahi Ganduje and Associates for Financial Crimes

The Kano State Government has initiated legal action against former governor Abdullahi Ganduje and seven others, including his wife Hafsat and son Umar, on allegations of multiple financial offenses.

Among the accusations leveled against them are the receipt of $200,000 from a contractor and the alleged misappropriation of funds meant for the procurement of face masks and hospital equipment.

The charge sheet, presented before a Kano High Court, asserts that these actions violate the Kano State Public Complaints and Anti-Commission Commission Law of 2008.

The defendants named in the case also include Abubakar Bawuro, Jibrilla Muhammad, Lamash Properties Limited, Safari Textiles Limited, and Lesaga General Enterprises.

Under Governor Abba Yusuf’s administration, the state government alleges that Ganduje received a $210,000 kickback from individuals and entities involved in or seeking contracts with the Kano State Government, specifically pertaining to the remodeling of the Kantin Kwari textile market.

Despite denials from Ganduje and his associates, who claim the accusations are malicious attempts to tarnish the former governor’s reputation, the charges encompass offenses such as official corruption, criminal conspiracy, and breach of trust.

Should Ganduje be found guilty, as the current National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress, he could face severe penalties as prescribed by the laws governing financial misconduct in Kano State.
